the project
We designed and created a semi-automatic telescopic stand with 175 seats especially for YOLA (Youth Orchestra Los Angeles). YOLA is an initiative of the Los Angeles Philharmonic that establishes youth orchestra programs in disadvantaged communities in Los Angeles.
venue
YOLA trains more than 1,300 young musicians, providing them with free instruments, intensive music instruction and academic support.
The new Judith and Thomas L. Beckmen YOLA Center is the group’s first purpose built facility; a gathering place for YOLA students and a cultural resource for the people of Inglewood, California.
the challenge
Despite the COVID health crisis we completed this prestigious export project, supported by our local agent Seating Master.
We worked in collaboration with the world-famous, contemporary architect Frank Gehry, renowned for his original shapes and unusual materials, who partnered with Theater DNA, a Los Angeles-based company specializing in stage design.
the result
The semi-automatic telescopic stand with 175 seats is the outcome of an exceptional collaboration that demonstrates the high quality of our engineering and products.
It boasts US oak flooring, and high end finishes on all aspects of the stand to complement the venue’s materials and design. The audience listening to these budding musicians will be able to fully enjoy their concerts from the comfort of the Master Gravity+S chairs, especially designed for this venue.
highlight
As the new home of YOLA national, the venue will bring together musicians and students from across the whole of the USA to play together in the new performance space.
