The Project

Along with our Swedish agent, Sparta System, we installed a stylish, retractable telescopic stand in a multi-purpose venue. The stand allows the space to be transformed with minimal effort so that the venue can host large crowds.

The Venue

Inaugurated in the early 1960’s, the Ritz Culture House in central Arvika originally served as a People’s House but was renovated in 2018 to become a cultural venue and a meeting place. The Ritz is now capable of hosting of a variety of events, including and not limited to; music concerts, festivals, dance shows, theatre performances, exhibitions, conferences, lectures and parties.

The Challenge

The Ritz team wanted the option of hosting a variety of large-scale events ranging from concerts to exhibitions. This dictated the need for quickly movable seating, with the possibility of changing the purpose of the space quickly between events.

The seating also had to suit the aesthetic design of the 1960’s, as that is the prevalent stylistic theme throughout the building.

The Result

We created a 251 seat, multi-purpose space at The Ritz. The retractable stand provides the option of a clear floor space for events like exhibitions or banquets but can accommodate large audiences for lectures or theatre performances when necessary.

Additional seating spaces are available in the form of 38 fixed chairs on the side balconies, and 60 MASTER Beam removable chairs are available to provide extra capacity.

Many features from the 60’s have been preserved and the red MASTER One seats with armrests were chosen to be in keeping with the original walls and match the overall style of the venue.

Finally, for improved visibility, LED lights with dimming and adjustable color options were installed in the stairs. Accessibility was also taken into consideration, with spaces on the balconies and at the front of the stage adapted for wheelchairs.
